Weekend plans, online dating, and such

I have absolutely not one single plan this weekend and I am surprisingly okay with that. I plan to sleep a ton, exercise, and watch my West Wing DVDs. I guess I will feel compelled to vacuum my apartment at some point as well.

After work this evening I went for a hike on the Ma & Pa Trail. UNFORTUNATELY, I discovered halfway through that my pedometer's battery is toast. Shucks. So now I am just keep track of times instead of steps until I get it replaced.

In other news I am trying out online dating once again, except this time I am doing it for free through OK Cupid. I am having somewhat of a similar experience as before, just amplified. Basically: at first I am flattered at all the attention, but then that wears off and I realize 95% of the people messaging me are not really going to be worth my time. I know, I have what some people could call high standards. I am a picky gal!

I am being boring and a homebody lately and watching TV on DVD. Right now my two TV shows are the West Wing and Veronica Mars. That, and I enjoy the kitten curling up on my stomach while I watch TV on the couch.

Blood Trail

Having nothing interesting or substantial to say about my personal life, I will mention that there is a trail of blood drops in downtown Bel Air that starts at the Archer building on West Courtland (where someone clearly shoved their hand through a window) and ends in front of the Irish pub Sean Bolan's on Main Street.

In other Downtown Bel Air news, I am walking up Main St and 4 Town police cars sped by with lights and sirens blaring. I didn't even realize the Town had 4 police cars!

And we just keep chugging along

Congrats to my rambunctious little kitten Max who was neutered yesterday and in keeping with his true spirit, has bounced right back and even seemingly has more energy today!

My week generally started off very busy, and now it's about to be Wednesday and the week is winding down already! I am very excited for this weekend. Chrissy and I are going to have lunch and do some shopping at the local children's boutique shops in Bel Air, specifically Tiny Toes and Tiddlywinks. Our special guest: little miss Clara, Chrissy's four-month old and my honorary niece!

Then Saturday night I am so excited because the old college gang is reuniting for laser tag in Columbia!

On a more serious note, my thoughts this week have revolved frequently around the murder of Dr. Tiller. I thought we as a country had moved beyond this. I'm saddened that once again that someone thought this would be an appropriate way to communicate their point of view. And I'm scared that this is part of a larger trend of protests, vandalism, etc. towards reproductive health clinics.

Weekend Plans

Saturday will be full of lots of fun activities!
I'm checking out the weekly Farmer's Market in Bel Air before heading out to North East to register new voters with the Cecil County Young Democrats.
After that, I'll be visiting my good friends Ray and Chrissy to see their beautiful four-month old, Clara Rose.

In the evening, I'll be participating in the Howl at the Moon Pub Crawl, benefiting Paws for Life.
Paws for Life, a 501 (c) 3 organization, helps owners in need, the terminally ill, the house-bound, the elderly, and those in financial crisis afford veterinary medical care for their injured or acutely ill pets. Paws also offers financial assistance to spay/neuter programs and medical rehabilitation for stray and abandoned animals rescued from puppy mills and "death row" by no-kill shelters. Tickets for the event are $45 that night and $40 in advance- you can contact 1-866-838-0037 for more information or to purchase tickets!

Memorial Day: the recap

To think that one week ago I did not have a single plan for Memorial Day weekend! I had a very awesome weekend although it was busy.

Things I have learned recently, and thoughts I have had about life in general lately:

-Friendships, true friendships, effing rock.

-At first it may seem worth it to spend time wondering about what might have been, and regretting decisions made or things left unsaid in the past... but it's not worth it. It's not. Stop thinking about it and think about the future. Seriously. Now. So actually some days I'm still working on this one.

-I have come such a long way in my life in the last four months. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

-Asking boys out for dinner is not that difficult. Also I love sushi.

-I cannot wait for campaign season to get started. I love campaign season more than I will love my firstborn child (if I can slow down long enough to settle down someday ;-)

-The kitten is chewing on my foot.

Had a great time at the Baltimore City Young Dems happy hour...

And now I have dinner plans for Sunday :-)

Memorial Day Weekend!

I'm excited for the unofficial start of summer! I just wish the forecast was looking a little warmer. But I have some nice plans. In about half an hour or so I am headed downtown to join the Baltimore City Young Democrats at a happy hour at Eden's Lounge. Tomorrow night I am hanging out with a friend, watching movies and making pizza from scratch, which I am already salivating over. I have a ball of pizza dough in my fridge, as well as fresh mozzarella, asiago, and fontinella cheeses. Yummy!

I am attending an event Monday morning then heading down to the Redneck Riviera, a.k.a. my parents' backyard retreat. Then working hard after that for the next week and a half!
